March 10: Guest Speaker - Avik Chatterjee

Come join us to hear from Dr. Chatterjee, who will lead a round table discussion about the importance of narrative in his work as both a physician and a writer. It will be on March 10 in Sever 203, 9-10pm. Please RSVP here.

Dr. Chatterjee is a med-peds trained primary care and addiction medicine physician physician at several shelter-based clinics through Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. His areas of clinical and research interest include innovative treatment models for opioid use disorder in vulnerable populations, and interventions on social determinants of health, such as food insecurity.

Come hear from Christina Thompson, editor of eminent literary magazine Harvard Review! It will be at 8pm in Sever 203 on Oct 10. Please RSVP here.

Christina Thompson is the editor of the Harvard Review and the author of Sea People: The Puzzle of Polynesia (forthcoming, Harper, 2019) and Come on Shore and We Will Kill and Eat You All (Bloomsbury, 2008). A recipient of a National Endowment for the Humanities Public Scholar Award, as well as grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Australia Council, she is a regular contributor to the books pages of the Boston Globe. She has taught at the Harvard Extension School since 2001 and was awarded the James E. Conway Excellence in Teaching Writing Award in 2008.

Oct. 29: Guest Speaker - Garrett Faulkner

Come hear from writer Garrett Faulkner! It will be at 9pm in Sever 203.

Garrett Faulkner is a Resident Tutor of Eliot House. Having previously served as a magazine editor, teacher, and news reporter, he holds an MFA from the University of Arizona. His short story “Stumblecookies” won the 2018 League of Utah Writers fiction contest for new writers. He’s currently working on a novel about a Depression-era coal mining strike in Bell County, Kentucky.

Nov. 19: Editing Workshop with Christina Thompson

Christina Thompson, editor of the Harvard Review, will be leading a session where she’ll go over the editing and workshopping process with students’ pieces. It will be at 9pm in Emerson 106 on 11/19.
