Interested in working with a fun and talented group to produce an award-winning publication?

Welcome to comp! For Fall 2026, our completion-based comp will run from Sep. 14 to Sep. 22. To join the Tuesday Magazine membership, complete the three requirements below by the listed deadlines.

REQUIREMENT 1: ATTEND COMP MEETINGS

Attend 5 of 8 meetings. The 5 include the intro meeting and the post-comp donut social, plus at least one meeting about each genre: prose, poetry, and art/photo.

If you have an unavoidable conflict, reach out to tuesdaymagazine@gmail.com as far in advance as possible. This is a firm requirement, not a flexible one.

REQUIREMENT 2: OUTREACH

Complete 2 of the following 5 outreach actions. Your 2 must come from at least 2 different categories. Log each completed action in the Outreach Log Form (link here).

1. Poster/flyer distribution: Distribute at least 25 posters/flyers (we will give these to you) across 5+ public locations (dorm common rooms, class buildings (i.e. Sever), Annenberg, House dining halls, billboards). Photo proof required.

2. Direct outreach: DM or talk to 3 people in a class, workshop, pre-frosh group, or affinity org that's a natural fit for submissions, with a short pitch about Tuesday Magazine.

3. Class/professor share: Get a professor or class instructor to share the Tuesday submission call with their class via Canvas or email forward.

4. Social media post: Post about Tuesday Magazine and the submission call on your personal social media (story, repost, or post). Screenshot as proof.

5. Solicit a submission: Get someone to submit a piece to the magazine, with you listed as the solicitor on their submission.

Log every action as you complete it, one form entry per action (not batched). If an action falls through (for example, you solicited someone for #5 and they never submit), simply complete a different action from the list in its place before the deadline.

DEADLINES

Outreach actions logged (both, from 2 categories): Sunday 9/20

Meeting attendance requirement completed: Monday 9/21

Donut social: Tuesday 9/22

QUESTIONS

Reach out to tuesdaymagazine@gmail.com with any questions about meetings, the outreach log, or scheduling conflicts.

To comp this semester, you must be available to attend our general meetings which take place on Tuesdays at 7-8pm (tentative). If you are unavailable at that time, we encourage you to join the mailing list and comp next semester!

Harvard Undergraduate Tuesday Magazine welcomes students of all backgrounds. We've always been a platform for fresh, contemporary voices. We hope you'll join us!

We accept new members each semester through a completion-based process that allows compers to get to know each other while becoming familiar with evaluating creative writing and art. Unlike many publications, our editorial process is democratic and participation-based: show up, contribute, and you’ll become a voting member.

We offer many unique opportunities:

  • Hit the ground running: Tuesday's comp process allows you to be involved in magazine production the very first semester you comp.

  • Less classroom, more magazine: join a magazine, not a fifth class. We cut straight to creating a magazine together.

  • Creative freedom: we entrust board members with full editorial discretion. Board applications will open every year, or at the start of the spring semester if needed.

Creativity here belongs to everyone!
