Poetry, short fiction, narrative nonfiction, photography, and art submissions for the Fall 2022 issue are now open until March 11, 2022.

Our editorial board considers written submissions, including short fiction, poetry, and narrative nonfiction.  Our design & art board considers visual artwork, such as photography, drawings, paintings, and film stills.

Submission Guidelines

These updated guidelines will apply starting from Feb. 23, 2020 going forward.

Harvard affiliation is not a requirement; we welcome submissions from the general public as well. All submissions will be considered anonymously.

How to Send Us Your Work: We accept submissions only by email to submit@tuesdaymagazine.com. Please email your piece(s) as an attachment, along with an official title, your full name, and your Harvard affiliation (if any; if so, graduation year as well). Your manuscript must be in one of the following file forms: .doc, .docx.

Formatting Your Manuscript: All manuscripts should be in 12-point type, with at least one-inch margins, and sequentially numbered pages. Fiction and nonfiction should be double-spaced. Poetry should be single-spaced. We ask that submitters include a cover letter with the author’s name, address, telephone number, and email address. The attached manuscript should not have the author's name on the document. Contributors are asked to include a brief biographical note with their submissions. You must name your manuscript file the name of your piece. If you have submitted multiple poems, please name your file the name of the first poem in the file.

Timing: Submissions may be sent to us during our submission period only. We only accept one submission per genre per submission period.

Simultaneous Submissions: We accept simultaneous submissions.

Submission Fees: We have no submission fee. We also unfortunately cannot pay authors for their accepted work beyond the exposure that may come from publication on our website.

Word Count Guidelines:

  • MANUSCRIPTS OF 2,000 to 8,000 WORDS can include short stories and narrative non-fiction.

  • POETRY submissions may contain up to five poems. The poems should be contained in a single file. We accept submissions of all poetic forms and genres but do not accept translations.

  • Art submissions may contain up to five pieces in a single email. We accept art of all forms and mediums.

If a work is accepted, authors will work with staff editors to prepare pieces for publication.

Terms and Conditions

The following applies to all accepted and published pieces:

  • All pieces must be previously unpublished and free of copyright violations, intellectual property rights violations, libel, slander, or presentation of false information as factual.

  • Published authors retain copyright for their pieces, but may not publish the same pieces in any form in other Harvard student publications.

  • Published authors grant Tuesday Magazine full license for legal term of copyright to publish, reproduce, distribute, display, and store pieces in all forms, formats, and media.

By submitting your piece, you indicate that you have read and accept these terms and conditions.
